Jamie Oliver's Portuguese Tarts

Hi everyone,

Who doesn't like a simple and easy tart recipe? Well this recipe is definitely one for the keeps!

It can be done in a very short time ( assuming you use pre-made puff pastry bought from a grocery store and not home-made, but if you are hard working, no reason not to give it a try).  The end product is a delicious orange custard centre combined with a gorgeous cinnamon filled puff pastry with every bite. Puff pastry on its on is already so heavenly with its butter and crust layers!!! *OMG* But add cinnamon to it, you manage to bring it up a notch! For those of you who don't like cinnamon, I suggest you start loving it now! :D This recipe is from Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals book, I altered the recipe a little to my liking. Enough of my yapping, here is the recipe and I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients
2 Puff Pastry Sheets
Ground Cinnamon
125g Creme Fraiche
1Egg
1tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 Orange

Method
Preheat oven till 200 degree Celsius

1) Place the puff pastry on top of a clean table top and dust it with ground cinnamon. Do not be shy with the amount of cinnamon, if you fancy it, put more! Spread it all over the puff pastry

2) Roll it up once your satisfied with the amount of cinnamon.  Cut it into 6 pieces per puff pastry sheet, they do not need to be equal sizes but just try if you can.

3) Let the puff pastry stand on the table top then flatten it with your hand.  Place each of the flatten puff pasty in a muffin pan.

4) Once in the muffin pan, spread the puff pastry till it fills the edges of the muffin pan, if the puff pastry sticks to your hand, dust with more cinnamon.

5) Place in oven for 10 minutes or till lightly brown.

6) In the mean time, mix creme fraiche, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and the rind and juice of one orange, then set it a side till the puff pastry is done baking. Take the muffin pan out and use a teaspoon to push back the puff pastry to make room for the filling. Fill all of the tart cases the place it back into the oven to bake for another 8 minutes.

7) Place them on a cooling rack, it is best to consume these fresh out of the oven! Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy this recipe!
